Hi, I'm Chelsey

At-A-Glance-1

Today’s post is a little nostalgic for me because I used to do a “Sunday Snapshot” on the blog, where I’d share a quick shot to represent my day. Although I don’t post on the weekends anymore, I thought I might bring it back every once in a while when I’m wanting to do a “live” post. The snapshot for today is focused on my beauty essentials, and it also has a mini first impressions mixed in. Wednesdays are usually a rough start for me.

  1. It’s day 3 of working out, which is always the day I’m most tired.
  2. It’s not quite close enough to the end of the week.
  3. I almost always wake up thinking it’s Thursday.

Today was no exception. I was hoping to take a few outfit pictures before going to work, but time wasn’t in my favor. Instead I had to reschedule those plans and decrease the beauty routine by wearing just the basics: foundation, concealer, brows, and mascara.

Maybelline-Chaotic

Morning Makeup

  • Foundation: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24hr (x)
  • Concealer: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (x)
  • Brows: Anastasia Brow Wiz (x)
  • Mascara: Maybelline Colossal Chaotic (x)

Both the foundation and concealer have been featured in a monthly favorites, but the other two beauty items are new purchases. Over the weekend, I tweeted about testing out a new mascara. Of the 3 options I had in my cart, I decided to give Maybelline’s Chaotic mascara a shot. Today is only day 3 of trying it, but my first impression is pretty average. The wand is much bigger than what I prefer (think Lash Blast), and the formula seems very wet. I’m not sure if it feels too wet because my previous mascara was drying out, or if it’s truly a very liquid formula.

As for my brows, I finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil a week ago. Truthfully, I only purchased it because I’m having a hard time finding my favorite BareMinerals pencil and I don’t like using brow powder on its own. A pencil provides a more precise finish. So far, I actually do like it…I just get the feeling that this product will run out faster than the average pencil. The color I chose is perfect, which is a relief. I wear it alone on minimal makeup days, and darken it up with my ELF brow powder for bolder looks.

Minimal-White-Nail-Polish

Beauty Extras

  • Essie Summer 2015 polish in Private Weekend (x)
  • Essie Gel Setter Top Coat (x)
  • Elizabeth & James Nirvana White (x)
  • Vogue’s June 2015 Issue

Target had a sale on Essie polishes over the weekend, which prompted the purchase of these two. The Summer 2015 collection primarily consists of colors that look very similar to shades I already own, but this white shade called ‘Private Weekend‘ is the exception. I was never into white nail polish, but I’ve grown to like it. Additionally, Essie has a new top coat called ‘Gel Setter‘ that provides a gel-like finish without having to use a lamp. So far, so good! My nails feel smooth to the touch and haven’t chipped yet.

Nirvana White is my go-to daytime perfume, despite my many efforts of trying to preserve it because I love it so much. I just really appreciate how long the Elizabeth and James scents last.

Lastly, I picked up this month’s issue of Vogue. I don’t always buy fashion magazines these days, but I will when I need a quick inspiration boost. It’s relaxing to flip through the pages of a physical magazine, so that’s what I plan on doing after I hit the publish button on this post.

Happy Wednesday!
