Rihanna is one of my top style icons and I missed the first run of her Fenty x Puma Fur Sandals, but luckily I was able to scoop up a few pairs during the most recent restock. Buying shoes online can be tricky and overwhelming, so I’m sharing my first impression of the slides to further help you all decide on the size and color options.
The Design + Colorways
The Leadcat fur slides have been released in four different colorways so far: grey, white, pink, black. The grey color was the newest release and also the one I wanted to get my hands on, but my size was unfortunately already out of stock. My friend was so kind to purchase the pink pair for me, which is what prompted me to also buy them in black.
If the grey were in stock, I probably wouldn’t have purchased the black because I originally thought they looked a little plain. Since I wasn’t sure how pink the shoes would look in person, I wanted to have a safe color as a backup. To my surprise, the black colorway ended up being my favorite once they arrived in the mail. While the pink slides are soft and feminine, the black slides are sleek and effortlessly cool. All four colorways are designed the same, with a faux fur ‘Puma’ strap and satin foam sole.
The Leadcat Sandals Sizing
Trying to determine the proper size felt a little tricky, especially with the added pressure of wanting to make a decision quickly before running the risk of the size going out of stock. I used to purposely wear oversized slides back in the day, so I didn’t have a point of reference for sizing other than the memo included on the Nordstrom website that indicates the shoes run slightly bigger than normal.
For reference, I generally wear a 7 or 7.5 in shoes. Even though it was recommended on the website to order a size down, I was a bit nervous about getting shoes that were too small so I decided to wing it and stick with my usual shoe size. Here’s the thing: the slides do feel like they run big, but only select colors. I can’t speak to the grey or white, but the black fit true to size. For that pair, I was glad I decided to purchase my usual size because opting for a 6.5 would’ve felt too small.
The pink pair fit differently from the black, to my surprise. Both shoes feel a little wide as most slides do, but the pink pair truly feels like a larger size. They aren’t too large to wear, but I do recommend going down a size if you’re interested in the pink pair and sticking with your usual size if you order the black. Both slides are extremely lightweight on the feet and comfortable, almost feeling like a mix of slides and house slippers.
I’m very satisfied with my purchase and actually wish more colorways were available. Ideally, I’d love to see Rihanna release olive, burgundy, and cognac versions of the slides. For now, you can still purchase the pink and white Leadcats on the Puma and Nordstrom websites. They are significantly higher than classic slides ($80 in comparison to under $30), but if you’re into Rihanna’s fashion like I am, the price is justified.
