OTK boots aren’t just for sweatshirt dresses. While they are undoubtedly a statement shoe, over-the-knee boots can be tamed down by wearing them over super skinny pants along the same color palette. I paired my Steve Madden boots with the faded black Zara pants featured in the most recent outfit post because I didn’t want my boots to fully camouflage with the jeans. Aside from that, I’ve also loved the look of faded black jeans lately. Similar to the worn-in tee, faded black pants add character and personality to an outfit. Some looks call for jet black pants to keep the outfit cohesive, but you can always incorporate your favorite black jeans that have faded due to excessive wear into a grunge outfit like a band tee and leather jacket look.
I’ve mentioned my love of BlankNYC moto jackets before, and I really don’t see myself expanding into other brands anytime soon. Two winters ago I had this exact jacket (same cut and style and everything!) in a vibrant pink colorway. While I liked the pop at the time, I’ve since settled into a love of earth tones and pastel shades on those days I want to delve into color. I ended up including the pink jacket in a ‘donate or sell’ pile during a seasonal closet purge and replaced it with this classic black leather. What I love about this particular jacket is the fit. The jacket is cut in a way that flatters your figure rather than swallowing it.
Under the jacket is a newer band tee of mine. Looking in my closet, I realized this is literally the only band tee I own that I didn’t purchase at a concert. Ironically, my mom and I had (and still do…I should probably look into that) tickets for Janet Jackson’s concert this year! Our show was rescheduled from January to July and then postponed with the rest of her tour once her pregnancy was announced. I guess you could say I was getting in the spirit by picking this particular tee at Urban Outfitters instead of an alternate artist. This kind of outfit would make a great option for casual night outings with friends, like to the movies, a dive bar, or a small live show.
