Hi, I'm Chelsey

Closet Essentials OOTD-1 Closet Essentials OOTD-1 Closet Essentials OOTD-1 Closet Essentials OOTD-1What I’m Wearing: Topshop top | Topshop jacket | Levis jeans | Steve Madden shoes | Noughts and Kisses sunglasses

Happy Friday! Today’s look for (semi) casual Friday shares another way to style closet basics into a complete outfit. If you missed it, click here to see the first outfit I put together. Since the first outfit was extremely casual with plaid and stripes, I decided to up the ante just a tad and go for a semi-casual look. Today’s closet staples are items that you likely already own: a white blouse, your favorite denim, a neutral heel, and a black outer layer.

What I love about this outfit is the versatility. Just by swapping out the shoes, the look can bounce from a day at the office to a shopping date with friends. I styled it with heels from Steve Madden to add a little height. Since I’m short, a long duster coat like the Topshop one shown above can easily swallow my frame. Wearing something with a heel provides a few extra inches to balance out the proportions. Because my hair is pulled back in an “I don’t feel like styling my hair” bun, I added the secret ingredient to a finished look: a classic red lip. This red lip is the shade “Carnivorous” from MAC’s Retro Matte liquid lipstick collection.

What’s your semi-casual go-to look?
