Hi, I'm Chelsey

This trend first made a comeback a few years ago, around the 2010 timeframe when I was still working at Guess. I remember the day we stocked the store with chunky heels so well because all of us associates could not comprehend why on earth anyone would willingly choose a chunky heel when a platform stiletto is still a thing.

The Glendael

Fast forward to 2014, and the chunky heel is back. The only difference this time around is that I’m kind of obsessed with the trend. When it comes to heels, wedges are always my first choice for two reasons:

  1. They are the most comfortable heel
  2. They instantly take me to a relaxing, summer vibe.

Essentially, the chunky heel is the updated wedge. And if you’re brave enough to step beyond the updated wedge, there are various sandals and boots that carry a thick heel. While I do admit they are an acquired taste, I encourage you to try them on before making the final judgment call. Below I’ve picked out my favorite options for rocking this trend. Let the shoe be the focal point of your outfit and pair it with solid colors like a white crop top with olive harem pants, or a loose v-neck with a skinny pant.

Shoes pictured are all: Rag and Bone / Topshop / Steve Madden

The Glendaels from Steve Madden and the Rag and Bone boots are my favorites, which ones are you eyeing?
