Hi, I'm Chelsey

textured-nails

This season, painting your own nails is the thing to do. There’s something relaxing about curling up on the couch with a good movie and a spread of nail polishes to choose from. Switch up the standard mani session by trying out textured or ombré nails.

There are quite a few texture polishes on shelves right now, but the one I’ve tried is the ‘Fuzzy Coat’ polish by Sally Hansen. The polish consistency is like an upgraded version of the chunky glitter overlays that were a hot ticket item in the early 90s. Rather than being shiny like party confetti, this newer version actually looks like “fur” in the bottle. The benefit to this type of textured polish is that it can enhance ombre nails seamlessly, as you can see in the picture below.

Ombré nails can also be worn without a texture to cover it, but it takes some practice. This nail trend is great for revamping old colors in your polish collection. The key to conquering ombré nails is starting with a white polish as a base, and applying each color on a wet makeup sponge. I experimented over the weekend with American Flag inspired nails, and I like how the ombré nail came out. If nail salons aren’t your thing and you don’t have the time to get creative, nail wraps are a good alternative.

These are just a few of the options for decorating your nails this summer, have you tried any of the new polishes out?
