White is a staple in my closet, especially during the summer. While some people utilize summer to wear the brightest colors, I like to keep my brights limited to a crisp, clean white. Lately, I’ve loved the mix of business and casual for the weekend setting. On the previous post, I shared a business professional look for the workplace. Today, we’re focusing on a look for a day out with your girlfriends. Do you ever have group dates with your friends or a girls day out where you’re in the mood to dress up? My high school best friend and I used to do this all the time, and I’d like to get back into it. Who says you always have to stick with casual wear just because it’s the weekend?
For some inspiration, I paired this look together. The denim shorts showcase the legs and are appropriate for summer, while the long blazer is long enough to cover your backside–you know, just in case your shorts are a little too short for comfort. You can use this same technique with a kimono or cardigan on casual days, but today we’re sprucing it up. Heels are the main hiccup with my motivation to dress up on the weekend. For me, the weekend is all about comfort. When you want to dress nice for a day out, it’s still important to make sure the shoes are comfortable. The Steve Madden Stepout sandals are comfortable enough to wear for hours on end, and they add a little effort into the look. If you’re unlucky with finding comfortable single sole heels, wedges are also a great option. Personally, they’re my favorite style of heel to wear, and feel most appropriate during the summer.
For the hair, I don’t really like to keep hair around my face/neck area when I have on added layers…especially during these warmer months. I’ve loved styling my hair in this top knot lately because it gets the job done and looks chic, as opposed to my usual ponytail style.
What do you like to wear for weekend dates?
