Welcome to the last post of the spring transition series! If this is the first post you’re reading, click here to start at the beginning. We’ve talked about clothes and makeup, so now it’s time to focus on footwear. Below is the last and final tip for transitioning your style for spring:
Take inventory of your current shoe collection and make a note of what essentials you may need.
As far as decluttering goes, this one is pretty straightforward. You can actually follow the same tips provided from the closet cleanout post to narrow your shoe collection down. Toss or donate anything that no longer fits or is severely damaged. Once the collection is filled with only items you’ll regularly wear, make note of any gaps that need to be filled. Are you lacking a pair of essential heels? Do you want to incorporate trendy shoes into your collection?
The underlying theme within this series is to go in with a plan. Once you identify what you already own and what you’re lacking, shopping with a purpose becomes much easier. Personally, I’m almost all set with essential shoes with the exception of nude and black flats. There are a few shoe trends this spring that I’d like to try, which I’ve listed below. If you’re looking to add a trendier shoe to your rotation this Spring, the below selections can help get you started:
The 3 Shoe Trends to Own this Spring
- Patchwork – Patches aren’t just for denim. Find a patchwork boot or flat that fits your style and add it to a simple outfit like shorts and a white tee.
- Slip-Ons / Mules – Backless loafers (mules) perfectly capture the casual and refined style. Pair them with cropped trousers and a blouse for a smart look.
- Blush Tones – Blush is here to stay. Soften up your wardrobe by adding a pair of blush shoes to your closet–bonus points if they’re blush and satin!
