You know the name. You know the brand. But do you know the collaboration?
I was fortunate enough to have a little early preview of the Karlie Kloss x Warby Parker sunglasses collection before it launched, and it was love at first sight. Now if you know me, you know that I generally don’t splurge on sunglasses because I’m paranoid about losing or breaking them…I mean, I once lost my favorite shades in the Atlantic Ocean while on vacation. That being said, I have quietly been perusing sites online looking for one good investment pair of sunglasses. I’m not looking to start a collection and only buy high-end glasses or anything, but I would like just one good go-to pair. The Karlie x Warby collection couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.
About the Collection
The collection consists of three frames–Julia, Marple, and Clara–all available in two different colors. All three are extremely wearable shapes, as they have a classic feminine silhouette that is flattering on most, if not all, women. The Julia frame is the most classic, with its own spin on the timeless teardrop shape. Marple and Clara both have added flare with contemporary wire accents along the lens.
Honestly, I love all three frames. I can see myself styling the Julia frames with a classic t-shirt and jeans combination. The Marple frames have a modern cat-eye persona, which would look amazingly trendy with printed trousers and a strappy sandal. The rounded accent on the Clara frame makes me think of summertime, so I would pair it with a beach-ready outfit like a maxi dress and floppy hat. Truth be told, the best part about the trio of sunglasses is that although I have an ideal outfit in mind for each, they would look great with anything.
Why it Works
When I think Karlie Kloss, I think: Cool. Laidback. Stylish. (And Victoria’s Secret, obviously.)
When I think Warby Parker, I think: Cool. Versatile. Trendy.
It makes sense that this collaboration works so well because the two are so complementary of each other. Karlie seems so effortlessly stylish. She is chic with a side of edge and doesn’t have to try hard for a look to come together. Warby Parker (sun)glasses also make me think of an effortless yet trendy style. They offer classic frames as well as frames that are a bit more bold, for the daring girls.
If you aren’t familiar with Warby Parker, the brand donates a pair of glasses to someone in need by joining forces with non-profit partners. With this newest collection, they are donating to Edible Schoolyard NYC, which is an organization close to Karlie Kloss. Edible Schoolyard NYC provides low-income public schools with kitchens and gardens, and students learn the tools to develop lifelong healthy habits. The donation will benefit two community farm stands in Brooklyn and East Harlem, where kids learn about food preparation in their own neighborhoods.
I think the organization is a wonderful choice, as I’m also very interested in nutrition and health. I believe it’s important to learn healthy habits young to set up for a successful future, and I love that both Karlie Kloss and the Warby Parker brand have recognized that.
Where to Purchase
The collaboration just launched this morning, so they’re available for purchase over on the Warby Parker site with a $145 pricepoint. If you’re lucky enough to live near one of the store locations, the frames are also available for purchase in store. As always, the website has both free shipping and free returns. And remember, for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need.
