PSA: Next week is the last week before Christmas! If you’re still at a loss for gift ideas, I have two posts this year to help you out: (1) Gift Ideas Under $100 and (2) Stocking Stuffers Under $50. You can also check out all gift-related posts on the site by clicking here.
Yesterday was the last day for many stores to have standard shipping arrive in time for Christmas, but there’s still a little time left for fast shipping! Take advantage of things like Amazon Prime’s 2-day shipping and other stores’ buy online/pick up in store option before it’s too late! Now, on to today’s post.
Apologies for the above phone quality pic, but it was taken on NYE which means one thing: It’s time to start thinking about this year’s NYE outfit ideas! I haven’t decided if I’m going to go out this year again or instead have a low key night in with my family, but here’s to planning ahead just in case!
When it comes to NYE outfits, there are a few staple materials that come to mind:
NYE Outfit Ideas Starter Kit
- Velvet
- Fur
- Sequins
- Lace
- Satin
- Leather
While you certainly don’t want to incorporate all 6 fabrics into a single outfit, you truly can’t fail by mixing and matching any two combinations together for a successful night look. Yes, this is a party dress edit, but I couldn’t leave out a good pantsuit look.
I browsed around online to create 3 different NYE outfit ideas, all focused on mixing the 6 fabrics above to create a festive outfit. Use these as a reference as you shop around for your next NYE outfit, and let me know which pairing is your favorite!
Look 1: Sequins & Fur
Look 2: Satin & Lace
Look 3: Velvet & Leather
- Felina Grace Mesh and Velvet Bodysuit
- Dorothy Perkins Mini Leather Skirt
- Chinese Laundry Jaiden Block Heels
Which look was your favorite?
Last year, leather and velvet was my combination of choice. If I go out this year, I’m leaning more towards the satin and lace territory. Check out my holiday party Pinterest board for more inspiration!
