Hi, I'm Chelsey

Happy Monday! Today’s outfit is honestly one of my favorites, just a little modified from last year. With Coachella around the corner, I figured now is the perfect time to bring back this simple Spring outfit.

Yellow + Ripped Denim | OOTD

I live in off the shoulder tops during Spring and Summer. For me, they’re the ideal top to wear when it’s hot outside because off the shoulder tops are almost always made with a lightweight, breathable fabric. If you add in yellow, then it’s definitely making the cut this season.

This time around, I swapped darker denim for a lighter wash from Zara and wore a more subtle shoe. I purchased the Sam Edelman sandals on a whim during SXSW because I needed a neutral sandal to match my outfit at the time, but I’ve really grown to love these sandals. They’re the perfect style to wear when I just need something simple paired with my outfit, and Sam Edelman makes some of the most comfortable flat sandals. The yellow off the shoulder top is a quick and easy way to incorporate two spring trends in a single outfit. My primary suggestion for styling a top like this is to keep it simple.

For me, the warmer seasons are really all about staying cool in effortless outfits. Intricate layers and heavy accessories are best served during the colder seasons because the goal is to stay warm. Once Spring or Summer hits, it’s time to keep outfits easy and minimal. If you ever feel like you’re spring outfits are getting a bit too plain, find a print! You’ll notice I love a good print or pattern, especially in spring/summer. It automatically adds to your look without adding an extra layer.

[P.S. I’m not wearing the Fenty Body Lava in the pictures but you can still get a peek of the glow with this top in my Style Insta Story highlights!]

Festival Style Tips

Since I wore this top to a festival last year, this outfit post is the perfect time to throw in a few of my quick festival tips:

  • Tip 1: For summer festivals, avoid black. It can get really hot while out in the sun and black only attracts the heat.
  • Tip 2: Always, always, always wear shoes you have already worn. Even if you buy a pair of shoes for a festival, purchase them a few weeks in advance so you can wear them out for several hours and test their comfort level.
  • Tip 3: Choose your accessories wisely. I wanted a belt bag last year but couldn’t find one so I went bagless and it was honestly such a good idea. They’re a bit more trendy now so I’ll probably have better luck, but in general, keep accessories to a minimum. The reason? Easier check-in and you don’t have to carry anything around all day.
  • Tip 4: Style your hair and makeup in a way that requires very little touchups, and always carry an extra hair tie.

I’ve gone to festivals for three years now and share my looks each time, so definitely check out the related posts at the end for even more festival content!
