Accessories are a quick and easy way to spice up an otherwise plain outfit. Funky bags, shoes, and jewelry can be tossed with a basic tee and jeans to take the look from simple to fun, so why not do the same with frames? They vary in shape, size, color, and now print. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
Where to Buy
The best part of this trend is that it’s super affordable. It’s so frustrating when a trend you want to try is out of your price range, and the cheaper alternatives are either still too high or don’t match your taste. I never spend more than $20 on sunglasses or nonprescription glasses, mainly because they are so easy to lose or break. I purchased all of my readers and shades from
Forever 21, but
Target and Charlotte Russe have quite a few pairs that caught my eye as well. And as always, for anything funky,
Urban Outfitters is always an option.
How to Style
The thing with sunglasses is it’s okay to mix and match. That mantra applies to fashion in general right now, actually. Mixing prints continues to stay on trend, which means there’s free reign to grab the craziest pair of shades and wear them with your already pattern-happy outfit. A few tips of mine on styling printed (and solid) frames coincide pretty well with my thoughts on mixing patterns:
- Solid readers mix well with any casual outfit, particularly a standard (graphic or solid) tee with cutoffs or jeans. A bold lip will polish off the look.
- Animal print frames are versatile and can be worn with any type of style, whether girly or edgy. My favorite pairing is with a predominantly black and neutral toned outfit topped with a denim jacket.
- Floral frames complement the flirty look of a daytime dress and wedges, but also look great with a peplum top and printed pants.
- Geometric, bright frames have a summer feel to them, so pair these fun shades with a loose tank top, neon bandeau, and shorts.
I used to stick to one pair of sunglasses, but changing them up each day is a fun way to spice up my eye wear.
