It’s festival season! Spring is in the air, the bohemian vibe in fashion has returned, and festivals are upon us. SXSW already happened, but if you’re one of the thousands of people attending a festival like Coachella, Lollapalooza, or a smaller local scene, you’re probably in need of something to wear. The thing about festival attire in recent years is that people not only want to go for the environment, but they also want to look the part. With the fashion influx, outfits can range from very simple to a little overboard.
For me, I don’t gravitate towards outfits that try too hard. I find that your best looks happen when you just go with the flow. Keep it simple, keep it practical, stay true to yourself, and don’t overthink it. Once you have the outfit base, then you can add something a little trendy if you’re into that. I’ve put together three festival-inspired outfits that I would wear if I were going to a festival this year. They all fall around the same premise of looking the part without trying too hard.
Look #1: River Island and Topshop
This outfit is my favorite of the bunch, and one that I want even for a regular weekend look. The pieces look festival appropriate when paired together without having a lot of distracting prints, which is great for people who love to keep solids in their wardrobe. Once festival season is over, the pieces are versatile enough to separately style into totally different outfits.

- Faceted Bead and Chain Necklace (x)
Look #2: Urban Outfitters and Steve Madden
Although the first look is my personal favorite, I feel like this one is the most festival-ready. It’s easy and breezy, and best of all: comfortable. The T-shirt dress can also double as a bikini coverup, but the statement necklace keeps it fashionable. If you aren’t one to have your toes out when large crowds are involved, short booties are a good trendy alternative.

- BDG Carina Oversized T-Shirt Dress (x)
- Alexa Panama Hat (x)
Look #3: Forever 21 and Target
The romper outfit choice for a festival is another good option as a swimsuit coverup. I love the print on this one because it’s not a gimmicky festival print, yet it does have a sandy, dry terrain color palette. I paired it with neutral sandals because the pattern of the romper is the focal point of the look.
Are you going to any festivals this year? Which look was your favorite?
