Happy Monday! Just another day of dodging the rain for you guys! Let me tell you, it seems like I am busy 24/7. I had a few items that I didn’t have a chance to return previously, so yesterday I squeezed in a break from working so that I could do a few returns and exchanges. Am I the only one who has a “refund day” where you take back the items you didn’t want all in one day? One of my friends hates returning things, but I’m all about that life. If you don’t like something or it didn’t turn out the way you hoped, why keep it only for it to collect dust? Anyways, this is the outfit I wore to run those errands.
The Fashion
You know what’s crazy? I’ve started acknowledging the fact that I need to invest in quality pieces so they can last throughout the test of time, but this No Doubt tee has accomplished that and it’s from Walmart. WALMART! I purchased this shirt not long after I moved to the city, which was 7 years ago. Who would’ve thought that a shirt from Walmart would last 7 years? Sometimes you can’t judge a shirt by the store it comes from.
As for my jeans, these are pretty out of my comfort zone. These are Blank NYC’s distressed skinny jeans and I love the excess amount of rips. I normally stay away from light denim because I don’t think they’re flattering on my thighs, but the ripsin this pair detract from that. Like most jeans for us short girls, they run a bit long. To compensate, I cuffed the bottoms. My sandals are by Halogen, which I featured pretty frequently on the blog last summer. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’re for sale any longer. Something about the worn look of my Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo bag added to the casual styling, so I took this bag out of hiding for the day.
The Beauty
As you can see, my foundation is a much better match than the previous outfit post. That BareMinerals shade was actually one of the things I went to exchange, so finger’s crossed that the third time’s a charm. I’m wearing my usual go-to: Lancome’s Teint Idole 24hr foundation topped with Makeup Forever’s translucent HD powder. On my lips I’m wearing MAC’s Twig lipstick, which I’m sure will be featured in an upcoming favorites post. For anyone close to my skin tone, this makes a great “your lips but better” everyday lipstick.
I know eyewear isn’t necessarily beauty, but it seems more appropriate to talk about it here rather than the fashion section. If you follow the site’s Instagram, you’ve already seen a photo of these beauties. These are the style ‘Vivienne‘ in rose gold by a brand that’s extremely popular on Instagram called Quay Australia. To be specific, this pair is from the QUAYxSHAY line that was made in collaboration with Shay Mitchell. I’m actually going to talk a little more about the shades along with my experience with shipping–I mean, it’s an Australian brand so it might be helpful for you all to know how my experience was–so keep an eye out for that later this week.
Moving on to my nails, on the one hand featured I’m wearing Salon Perfect in ‘Nothing But Blue Skies‘ with Pure Ice’s ‘Wide Awake‘ added on top. I say “on the one hand” because if you notice, the other hand is multi-colored…another thing to keep an eye out for later this week. My toes are Ginger + Liz’s nail polish in ‘Control Freak.’
