Most people love to shop for fragrances in November and December as the holidays roll around, but summer is the time to search for fresh scents. Over recent years, I’ve developed an interest in discovering new perfumes and really identifying which ones are worth the money. Sure, they all look appealing and smell good in the store…but the real test comes once they’re worn for a full day.
How many times have you purchased a fragrance only to be disappointed by the fact that you can’t smell it after 20 minutes? In this post, I’m sharing 5 scents I not only love because they are great for summer, but also because they last for hours.
1. Roses de Chloe
Roses de Chloe is a favorite scent of mine, and the bright scent mixed with floral makes it a fun option for summer. The primary notes are roses, bergamot, and musk. Because there are floral and amber tones, Roses de Chloe ends up smelling like an interesting twist on the classic rose scent. The girl who wears this perfume is someone I picture as dressing in lightweight fabrics and soft pastel tones.
Of the five perfumes mentioned, this one lasts the shortest amount of time. I still consider it to be long-lasting because it will last through a full day of work, but it may need to be reapplied if you’d like to carry it into the night.
2. Balenciaga Rosabotanica
Balenciaga Rosabotanica is not my usual scent, but it is one I like to wear in the spring and summer months. In terms of style, the girl who loves this scent is someone I picture to wear earthy, bohemian clothing.
Rosabotanica has a very natural, garden scent with a hint of spice. The primary notes are experimental rose, fig leaf, and white amber. What’s great about this perfume is a little goes a long way, so 1-2 sprays lasts throughout the day.
3. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb is a popular scent in the beauty blogger world, and for good reason. It’s a sweet and girly fragrance with notes of jasmine, rose, freesia, and patchouli. Flowerbomb is a scent for the girl who loves to wear floral print and day dresses in the summertime.
4. Elizabeth & James Nirvana White
Elizabeth and James Nirvana White is half of my signature scent and a great option to wear alone in the summertime. I’ve mentioned previously that the Nirvana scents are my favorite perfumes ever, so it’s a bonus that they cover all the seasons. Nirvana Black is perfect for fall/winter, Nirvana White for spring/summer, and they mix beautifully together for a year round balance of soft and alluring notes.
Speaking specifically of Nirvana White, this fragrance is a fresh peony scent with hints of tender musk. This perfume is for the girl who gravitates towards scents that evoke a sophisticated and feminine vibe. I picture the girl wearing this scent to be someone who
5. Tom Ford Soleil Blanc
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc is the newest to my perfume collection, thanks to my friends. I tested this perfume months ago in Neiman Marcus and instantly wanted to add it to my collection; however, I couldn’t justify the price point. This is a very expensive perfume, ranging from $220 to $535. I recommend asking family or friends to purchase this scent as a group birthday gift, because it smells incredible. It has what I would consider to be an unexpected scent.
Prior to looking up the notes, I described this perfume as a light subtle floral with an amber undercurrent. Interestingly enough, the fragrance is described on Sephora’s site as “a bouquet of white florals in a golden, amber-sandalwood embrace.” Soleil Blanc smells romantic yet fresh and sits lightly on the skin making it a perfect summer fragrance. In terms of style, I picture the girl wearing this to gravitate towards classic yet modern outfits in neutral colors that are well-tailored and paired with a pointed heel.
