What I’m Wearing: Forever 21 blouse | Topshop pants | Steve Madden shoes | Quay Australia sunglasses
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend! My parents came to visit so I had a fun, family-filled weekend despite the rainy weather. There’s something about spending time with family that just puts me in a good mood and resets my spirit for the week.
Spring has been the center of conversation around most of my recent blog posts, and today is no exception. Last week, I shared two outfits perfect for the weekend. But, what about the office? As much as I love to wear black and white, it’s nice to add muted colors as we transition to spring into my office attire. Today’s outfit show how to dress for spring in the office using two concepts:
- Add a floral print blouse (or cardigan) into your usual rotation.
- Choose a blush tone instead of the usual black or navy when picking out bottoms.
Ever since I purchased a pair of floral print cigarette pants, I’ve started to expand my wardrobe beyond denim and black pants. The blush utility trousers featured in today’s outfit post are one of the newer additions to my wardrobe. They’re an interesting fit that I’ve grown to appreciate because they aren’t fitted yet still have a bit of shape. I used to have a hard time finding pants that were this “in between” relaxed fit. Too often, the pants would sag in an unflattering manner or simply swallow my shape. Topshop makes trousers that are tapered at the ankle so they flare just a bit at the hips and slim down as they get towards the hem of the pant. The cut helps maintain shape while wearing a looser fit, so they still have a smart look.
If you aren’t a fan of colorful bottoms, opt for a floral print top instead. Topshop has a few options with a similar print, but I loved the style of this top from Forever 21. I’m sure this blouse will be a regular in my spring wardrobe. Aside from wearing it to the office, it also looks great with a pair of denim shorts. Floral tops can easily be dressed up or down, so find the print and color combination that best fits your personal style. For me, I tend to love smaller print against light colors and a larger print against darker, earthy tones. As for the shoes, I kept it simple with olive pumps from Steve Madden.
What do you think of floral print in the office?
