Welcome to Fall! Since I’m in Texas, chances are high that you’ll continue seeing “summer looks” on the blog. While I’d love to have a cold front sooner rather than later, I’m not getting my hopes up. Today’s outfit isn’t necessarily a fall look, but you can easily add a pair of tights underneath to turn it into a transitional outfit.

Over the weekend, my friends and I went to StyleCon in Dallas and this is the look I ended up wearing to the event. I really loved this outfit because it felt like it achieved the two main goals I had for the StyleCon look:

1. I wanted to wear an outfit that truly felt like it represented myself and my style, with a little more oomph.
2. While accomplishing the above, StyleCon is a fashion event so I wanted to incorporate a few trends.

I am so happy I found a pair of metallic boots. This is a trend I had my eye on for the fall season and Topshop saved the day. Picking the appropriate shoe was the final step in building this outfit, but I knew that I would ideally add flair with a metallic boot. As a backup, I packed black booties of the same shape just in case the silver felt too busy. We sat most of the day because there were a ton of interesting panels, but I didn’t have any problems with the metallic boots feeling uncomfortable.

As for the rest of the outfit, the top and skirt are both from Forever 21. Vinyl skirts caught my eye all summer long! The skirt featured today is a patent faux leather with a functioning exposed zipper. I picked up the skirt first and essentially built the rest of my outfit around it. My mind immediately wanted to pair a graphic tee with the skirt. Luckily, I found a polka dot blouse that felt more “high street” and appropriate to the setting.

Overall, the outfit is one of my favorites and I can’t wait to style each individual piece for future looks.

The event itself was so incredibly motivating! StyleCon is a 1-day event that brings together brands and influencers. I learned about the event through Style Collective, and I’m so happy I went! There were panels throughout the day with people from the industry giving their thoughts and opinions on things like social media, friendships, and fashion. There were also booths set up throughout the venue from various brands within the style community.

The content included in the event was informative and inspiring. I definitely recommend attending the event in Orange County if you can. I loved seeing all of the style bloggers supporting each other and wearing their best outfits.
