This is it! Not including the “best of” post coming next month, this is the last favorites post for 2015! These past few months have flown by so quickly, I only realized on Saturday that it was already time for the monthly favorites. So, what new items did I love during the month of November? Well, not much, actually.
Beauty Favorites
- Shea Moisture Anti-Breakage Strengthening Masque
- Victoria’s Secret ‘Scandalous’ Lotion and Body Mist
- Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Pressed Powder
- Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Shea Moisture Anti-Breakage Strengthening Masque (x)
This month was all about bringing hydration back into my hair. After breaking out of my normal routine and testing out a handful of products–some good, some not so good–I noticed my hair’s condition changed. I desperately need to get a haircut, and as you may have experienced, hair doesn’t lay as well when your ends need to be trimmed. It was more than just that, though. My hair just felt dry. I have several Shea Moisture hair masques in my stash, but finally opened this one. The full name is ‘Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Masque w/ Baobab Oil & Cilantro Extract‘ and it significantly helped to hydrate my natural curls. I’ve used it 1-2 each week this month, both after shampooing and after a co-wash.
Victoria’s Secret ‘Scandalous’ Lotion and Body Mist (x)
I’ve briefly mentioned the Victoria’s Secret ‘Scandalous‘ scent on the blog last month, and have been using it nearly every day since then. What I love most about the scent is not only does it smell good on its own, but it beautifully complements Nirvana Black–my favorite perfume.
Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Pressed Powder (x)
I actually need to clarify this favorite, as it’s more about the type of product rather than the actual brand itself. This year, I really experimented with liquid foundation. Before that, I primarily worked with loose mineral powder. This month, I have enjoyed wearing pressed powder foundation. Pressed powder foundation shortens makeup application time and is portable enough to travel with. While I like this MUFE Duo Mat powder, the only downside is it seems to oxidize after a few hours of wear.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (x)
I received the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief in one of my 500-point Sephora redemptions. Because it’s a trial size, I started using it for Austin City Limits. I was pleasantly surprised with the lightweight consistency, so I kept using it until I ran out just a few days ago. Gel moisturizers are perfect for those of us with combination/oily skin because they don’t feel heavy on the skin. I loved it so much that I even went to Sephora to purchase the full size, but I ended up going with a Boscia moisturizer instead.
Miscellaneous
- #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
- Monthly Music: Adele’s ’25’ + Spotify Picks
I read #GIRLBOSS from cover to cover while on the flight to and from Vegas. If you haven’t already, I recommend picking it up for a motivating and inspirational read.
As far as music goes, Adele’s latest album has pretty much been on repeat since it was released on November 20th. My favorites are Send my Love, I Miss You, When We Were Young, Million Years Ago, All I Ask, and Sweetest Devotion. What were some of your favorite things in November? As mentioned earlier in the post, this will be the last monthly favorites for 2015 since I feel like it would be a bit much to have a December monthly favorites on top of a yearly favorites; however, I will post on social media if any products next month stand out, so make sure to follow along on Twitter and Instagram!
