What I’m Wearing: Amuse Society sweatshirt (similar) | Forever 21 pants (similar) | Topshop boots | Quay sunglasses | H&M jacket (similar)
This outfit has all of the ingredients for a classic outfit from me: skinny black pants, relaxed top, and a pointed shoe. What kicks this outfit up a notch is the color of my boots. I saw these Topshop boots in Nordstrom and immediately tried them on. They reminded me of a pair of silver boots from YSL I’ve seen a lot of lately, but with a reasonable price tag. I’m not one to splurge on an item just because of the brand name, especially if it’s something fairly trendy that may rotate out of my wardrobe after a few seasons.
The silver boots are such an eye-catching piece that I had to have them, and even then I was still wavering back and forth trying to determine if I’d really get my ROI. I’m telling you, venturing into living a more minimal lifestyle has really altered my shopping habits. While I’m certainly not a minimalist by any means, I am well on my way towards creating the perfect and versatile wardrobe of my dreams.
Pro Tip: Put a mental dollar amount on an item you want before looking at the price. If it’s above your mental price tag, put it back. If it’s below, say hello to your newest purchase!
In this instance, I caught the boots while they were on sale so I brought them home with me and have been toying around with ways to style them ever since. This time, I kept it really simple, going for the casual cool girl look. The Amuse Society sweatshirt is something you’ll see more of because I can’t stop wearing it outside of work. It’s lightweight enough to carry into spring, and it’s on trend as I mentioned previously that branded tops were something to keep an eye on this year. It’s my first purchase from the brand, so we’ll see if I start to venture into the line more throughout the year.
