Let’s talk about the beauty of shopping your own closet. Although it was a 2015 resolution, I’m still making the effort to shop my own closet. I don’t want to hoard items that I’d only wear once. Instead, I want to have a reasonably sized closet filled with pieces I frequently mix and match, with a few bolder items thrown in on occasion. With that goal in mind, I’ve already gotten plenty of use out of two older items in my closet: the gray v-neck and the printed scarf. These are both items that I’ve owned for at least 2 years, but never really wore until recently. Since my Vegas trip in November, I’ve already fallen back in love with this particular scarf/v-neck combo and have worn it at least 5 times.
Although I didn’t mention it here on the blog, I’ve toyed with the idea of decreasing monthly favorites down to quarterly favorites this year because it can sometimes feel like monthly favorites enable you to go out and try new things more frequently. I felt like it wasn’t necessarily aligning with my 2016 journey towards a more minimal life, but I’ve realized as I write this post that I can still have favorites for each month without trying new products. There may be repeat items for certain months, but the goal is to ultimately share what I love overall…not just what I love that I hadn’t tried the previous month. I’m fairly certain at least one item from this outfit will make it into the January favorites next week.
