I didn’t even realize today’s entire look is from Forever 21 until just now. Maxi dresses are a favorite of mine, but it’s a challenge finding one that fits properly. Often times, a dress is too long and I have to knot it at the end. Others will fall too low in the front or cinch the waist at an unflattering spot. Basically, there are a lot of deciding factors for me when it comes to purchasing a maxi dress. These factors are essentially the only reasons I don’t live in maxi dresses every day during the summer.

I currently own 3 maxis and this printed dress is the newest one, purchased back in March. The colors of the dress are cool earthy tones, which makes the dress a perfect summer to fall item. I usually prefer a printed dress over a solid because minimal accessories are required. In this instance, I kept the look simple by just adding a floppy hat to block the sun.

My only qualm with the dress is its functionality. The maxi isn’t fitted, but it isn’t loose enough towards the hemline to walk comfortably, which could have easily been fixed by adding a slit. It’s a bit problematic because I take fairly long strides when walking, but nothing worth returning the dress over. It’s just a little reminder that sometimes, fashion isn’t functional.

Everyone have a safe and happy weekend!
