Hi, I'm Chelsey

Favorites-of-January-5January favorites always seem to have a larger amount in comparison to other months. After holiday shopping, receiving gifts, and brands coming out with new collections, it’s easy to get into product overload. This time around, I have a pretty good mix of fashion and beauty to share with you all.

Most Loved | January 2016

  • Urban Outfitters Printed Scarf
  • Merona Taupe Boots
  • Quay ‘Muse’ Sunglasses
  • Too Faced Natural Eyes palette
  • Sinful Colors ‘Nirvana’ polish
  • Orelia London Rose Gold Earrings

  • Bobbi Brown Highlighter

Favorites-of-January-1

Urban Outfitters Printed Scarf

I hinted in a previous outfit post that this scarf will likely make it into my favorites for January. I rekindled my love for this scarf in the month of January and it quickly became the one scarf I’d reach for when I wanted to add a print into a solid outfit. It’s more fashionable than functional, as it’s a lightweight scarf that doesn’t add much warmth on its own, but I like it that way.

Merona Taupe Boots (x)

Target is one of my favorite affordable stores for fashion items. This winter, I couldn’t find any boots that fit my style in my usual shoe shopping spots, but I lucked out at Target. These Merona boots have become my everyday winter boot. They have a slight heel but are extremely comfortable to walk in, and the color is a gorgeous cool-toned taupe.

Quay Muse Sunglasses (x)

The Quay Australia Muse sunglasses were a standout item for me in January. Despite having a modest collection, I found myself almost always reaching for the Muse style on a daily basis. Huge thank you to my friend Jonathan for giving them to me! I didn’t have this style on my ‘to buy’ list, so I was pleasantly I surprised with how much I ended up liking them. I feel like I reach for them a lot because right now I’m very into cool tones, and the blue mirrored lens is unlike anything I own.

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette (x)

Once again, my cool-toned love shows with this pick for January. I’ve started realizing Too Faced is my favorite high-end makeup brand for eye shadows because the formula is easy to blend and manipulate. I started downsizing my makeup collection over the weekend and aside from this palette, only the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar and an ABH quad survived. When I wore eyeshadow to work, 99.9% of the time I was wearing the Natural Eyes palette: Push-Up on the lid, Cashmere Bunny in the crease, and Heaven on the lid. It’s so compact and has all the basic shades I need when I’m going for a cool eye.

Sinful Colors ‘Nirvana’ Nail Polish (x)

With my cool tone appreciation still going strong, I stumbled across this nail polish in my local drugstore. Sinful Colors must have upgraded their formula in recent years because I remember not being a fan of the brand many moons ago. Nirvana is a taupe-colored polish with cool grey undertones. Much like the Muse sunglasses, I don’t own a shade similar to Nirvana. I wore it nearly 3 of the 4 weeks in January, and the best part is that it only cost around two dollars.

Favorites-of-January-6Orelia London Rose Gold Earrings (x)

Y’know, hoops are kind of my signature jewelry piece. I used to wear them as a teen because I thought they made me look older, and I also felt like they balanced out how small my ears are. Now as an adult, I wear them because I love the look. Every once in a while I’ll switch them out for stud earrings or something trendy, but I always feel 100% myself with thin (they have to be thin) hoop earrings. What makes this particular pair special is that they’re rose gold, something I’ve never tried in a hoop earring before. It’s a very subtle difference, but they complement my skin tone beautifully.

Love Cortnie ‘Ashleigh’ Clutch (x)

I believe I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve been reading Style Lust Pages for a few years now. Cortnie, the founder, always showcases one of her bag designs in her outfit posts and I’ve had my eye on the Ashleigh clutch for such a long time. My sister bought the clutch for me as a Christmas gift and I am so impressed with the quality. I love supporting small businesses, especially fellow bloggers, so I recommend the Love Cortnie brand to anyone looking for a cute clutch or bucket bag.

Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Heathers’ Liquid Lipstick (x)

The ABH Liquid Lipsticks made it into my Best of 2015 post, but Heathers in particular is what I’m referring to today. The color is so different to me, and it has completely replaced my desire to have a true red lip color. Heathers is a bold red that has brown undertones, so it’s more of a mahogany red. The shade is unique but very flattering on my skin tone.

Favorites-of-January-7

UO Gourmand EDP Pistachio Brûlée Perfume (x)

What caught my eye initially about this perfume was the aesthetically pleasing packaging. Once I smelled the tester, I had to purchase it. Pistachio Brûlée is a nutty scent with a  subtle sweetness to it. While it doesn’t last all day like my favorite perfume–I mean, it was only $18–it’s the perfect substitute to use when I want to wear a sophisticated perfume without grabbing one of the more expensive options. Even though it was cheap, it doesn’t smell cheap, which is key.

Bobbi Brown Bronze Glow Highlighter (x)

The Bobbi Brown highlighter was a favorite in January because I finally mastered the art of application. Swatched in Sephora, the pigmentation was intense like a disco ball; however, it took a bit of force when I first opened my package. Now that the initial layer is gone, I’m thoroughly enjoying the true gold glow this highlighter provides on the cheeks.
