With so much going on in the world to bring you down, now is the time to find a little light wherever you can. For me, I’m trying my best to really soak in the fall and holiday season. It’s my favorite time of year because the holiday season is in full force, it’s the time to gear up for a positive new year, and fashion is at its best. Of all the fashion items to wear during the cooler months, I get the most excited about boots. Below are 3 different styles of boots I’m rocking this fall, and you should too:
1. The Over-the-Knee Boot
This boot is a style blogger favorite, and that’s the over-the-knee boot. The over-the-knee boot can get a bad rep because it can come off a little on the tacky side if you aren’t careful with styling it appropriately. Last year I opted for a wedge heel, and this year a chunky heel, both of which are fairly tame options. If you’re on the riskier side and want to find a pair with a stiletto heel, skip the faux leather material and stick with a softer fabric like faux suede. It’s all about balance. This year, Steve Madden has several gorgeous options for over-the-knee and thigh high boots, all of which are reasonably priced. 2. The Stiletto Ankle Boot
While the chunky short boot is a must-have for daytime, the ankle bootie is great for two other settings: nighttime and the office. As much as I love to wear my short taupe boots each day, they are far too casual for work. For an office-appropriate option, ankle booties with stiletto heels fit the bill. The key is keeping the heel at the appropriate length for the occasion: under 4 inches for the office and over 4 inches for nighttime. My ankle booties are from H&M, but you can find a wider selection at Aldo. Check out the Ankle Booties + Printed Clutch outfit post to see how I style my boots.
3. The Casual Short Boot
Why do you need this boot? The better question is, why not? The casual short boot is a fall staple because it replaces the ballet flat and the sneaker as the new everyday shoe. A boot with a small lift looks more put together than a totally flat boot and doesn’t sacrifice comfort, so look for a pair in your favorite fall shade that has a chunky heel under 2.5 inches. This style is the easiest to find in stores so depending on how much you want to spend on a pair, I recommend either Target or Nordstrom.
