What I’m Wearing: H&M jacket (similar) | Urban Outfitters tank (similar) | Levi’s jeans | Steve Madden boots | Nordstrom scarf | Rebecca Minkoff bag | Target beanie
One day, we’ll be able to say “double denim” without thinking of Britney and Justin, right? Double denim is usually accomplished by pairing a lightweight denim shirt with a darker pair of jeans. I still like to wear that combination but sometimes it’s too chilly outside for the lighter top. That’s when the denim jacket comes out instead.
The nice thing about styling double denim with a jacket instead of a top is the versatility. Not only is this option more wearable, but you can completely change the mood of the look depending on your top. Wear a branded logo tee under the jacket for a casual streetwear outfit. The rose gold Adidas top is a trendy option for that look. Dress it up a bit by wearing a bodysuit instead of a traditional shirt.
Because I can’t get enough of wearing stripes, I kept it simple with my favorite Urban Outfitters tank. Regardless of the shirt you choose to wear, the double denim outfit is hard to mess up. The key to a successful double denim look is all in the color selection. Mix different denim rinses to break up the outfit and add contrast. Light denim on the top and dark denim on the bottom is my personal favorite combination.
I wore this outfit to brunch on a colder than expected morning, so I added a few of my favorite winter essentials to stay warm–a beanie, boots, and a scarf. I probably haven’t worn any color outside of the greyscale this winter except for olive. Can you blame me? It’s a wardrobe staple and it’s flattering on deeper skin tones.
The olive fringe scarf is a current favorite of mine because of the length. Oftentimes scarves stop too short when they’re double wrapped, but this one falls to a comfortable length. Surprisingly, it’s the only scarf I’ve purchased this season. I’m telling you, I’m slowly but surely learning how to minimize my wardrobe.
Love this such a cute chill outfit. I love the pop of olive as well. I am still trying to find some good olive clothes pieces for my collection. Great post.
Thank you! Olive is a must-have for our skintone! It truly pops and is the perfect shade to add a little color into your wardrobe. I pretty much treat it as a neutral!
