*If you’re just tuning in, welcome to the #liquidlipseries! You’re a few posts behind, but no worries–catch up by starting with the collective haul. Then, work your way over to the Anastasia Beverly Hills swatches and the Coloured Raine swatches*
We’re almost all the way through the #liquidlipseries! ColourPop makes up the bulk of my liquid lipstick collection, so lots of swatches are available for you down below.
ColourPop Ultra Matte Formula
- Very liquid texture
- Long-wearing (6-8 hours)
- Ultra matte finish
- Minimal dryness
I didn’t know what to expect with ColourPop since I never tried the brand before, but now I understand why people rave about it. While Coloured Raine is my favorite overall liquid lipstick brand, ColourPop is easily the best affordable brand. At $6 a piece (and free shipping if you spend $30), I didn’t expect the formula to be as long-wearing as it is.
The consistency is very thin and wet upon application, It dries quickly to a matte finish and only feels drying on the lips if a primer or chapstick isn’t applied first. That being said, the staying power is significantly longer if you don’t apply a primer because the product sets extremely well and doesn’t transfer. With a primer, the wear time is around 6-8 hours.
Ultra Matte Swatches
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed another post with ColourPop Ultra Matte lip products included that weren’t featured in my lipstick haul. Well, that’s because I ended up purchasing products from the KaePop (Karrueche Tran x ColourPop) collaboration. The collection came out a week or two after my liquid lipstick haul so I couldn’t feature them in that post, but I have included swatches of those in this post as well. In total, I own the following ten shades:
Pictures are better than descriptions so I won’t go into detail about all of the shades, but I do share my top picks as well as one that requires a bit of manipulation at the end of the post.
The only one I wouldn’t wear straight out the tube is Chi, which I pretty much figured would require liner manipulation. I love that Chi has peach undertones since most of my nude shades are cool-toned, but it’s definitely too light for my skin tone on its own. For the sake of true swatches, I didn’t apply a lipliner so you can get a true feel of how this color applies if you’re also close to my skin tone.
As for my favorites, I surprisingly like every shade I purchased. Teeny Tiny took a bit of time to like, but it definitely grew on me. My top picks are Chilly Chili, Kae, and Rooch. All three are beautiful straight out the tube or with a liner.
- Chilly Chili gets worn the most as it’s my favorite go-to ColourPop shade for an everyday lip color.
- Kae is a unique and gorgeous mahogany shade that looks beautiful on brown skin.
- Rooch is a staple shade for red lip lovers. In comparison to LAX, Rooch has more of a rich, jewel undertone whereas LAX is bold and deep.
