Let’s face it. We all want to be healthy, but getting to the gym can be hard. The trick is to find a way to motivate yourself. Some people are motivated by the end goal, but even small things like having cute workout gear can be enough to get back into the swing of things.
I will freely admit that I fell off the wagon and gained a few lbs over the holidays. As a matter of fact, I welcomed it! I fully intended on indulging in all of the delicious holiday meals and avoiding a gym at all costs until the new year (cliche) kicked in. While I’m not necessarily interested in losing any pounds, I would like to challenge myself by decreasing my body fat percentage and improving my running distance.
Naturally, I went to a few sports stores this month and last month to get a couple of workout pants for a motivation boost. I worked out semi-regularly last year so I didn’t need much, but I was still turned off by the thought of buying just ONE pair of cute workout pants for nearly $100. I mean, at some point as a reward for hitting a goal, sure I’ll splurge on a high-quality fitness brand. After all, I totally understood the Lululemon appeal after working with them a few years ago. But since I’m still in “reset” mode, that price point is currently reserved for gym shoes only.
PSA: Even if you aren’t willing to pay the price for workout clothes, shoes are a different story. I’m personally a Nike only kind of girl when it comes to workout shoes. My new pair for this year as motivation are the black Nike Juvenates. They’re marketed as more of a casual shoe, but I find them lightweight enough for both in and out of the gym.
When it came to workout clothes, that’s where Target saved the day. Target currently has a cute and fashionable selection of workout gear in stock. At only $25 each, I picked up two pairs of bottoms and had to limit myself so I wouldn’t have a set back for my style resolution.
I wanted to share this with you all just in case you’re also in “reset” mode and aren’t ready to splurge on workout gear. My advice is to absolutely invest in the shoes for now, and check out Target or other affordable options for the clothing. In the event that you’ve already passed reset mode and want to treat yourself, you can check out the posts I have on Lululemon gear for a higher end option.
