Hi, I'm Chelsey

I-Woke-Up-Like-This-Coffee-Mugs

It’s yet again, time for another favorites post. Compared to last month, I don’t have a lot of items to share.

Beauty and Style

As mentioned, there aren’t a lot of beauty products to feature this month. I tried a few new items, but with the exception of the two featured today, I didn’t find them to be spectacular products.

Essie-Gel-Setter-and-Boscia-Hydration-Gel

Essie Gel Setter Top Coat

If you’re looking for a way to have long-lasting nail polish without getting any sort of fake nails, this product is for you. I go through phases of loving fake nails, but I’m just not there right now.

When I saw Essie came out with a top coat marketed towards providing a gel nail finish without the need of a gel light, I became curious. I talked a little about my initial impression of this polish in a previous post, and not much has changed since then. I still haven’t seen how long the top coat and last, because once day 5 arrives I usually change out my nail polish color.

Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel

If you read about my Boscia skincare haul, you may have some familiarity with this product. I picked it up as a 500-point reward at Sephora, which came with a few other Boscia items. I switched my skincare routine to Boscia for the month of June, and this gel is definitely the star player for me.

I don’t know how I’ve lived this long with oily skin without stepping into gel moisturizer territory, but now I want to explore that even further after this trial run. The hydration gel is so lightweight and it doesn’t take long to absorb into the skin. I’ll provide a full update on the Boscia products soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Morphe Brushes

I’m not the girl with a ton of makeup brushes because I hate how quickly the prices can add up. Luckily, one of my friends let me know when Morphe brushes were on Hautelook so I was able to finally purchase a new brush set for a great price. I wish the brushes that came in a set still had the brush name on the handle, but they’re truly all amazing. The quality is fantastic and I like that I now have a complete set of brushes. For reference, I ordered the Deluxe Badger Set of 15 that also came with a rollup case.

Quay-Australia-Vivienne-and-Gold

Delicate Rings

There’s something about summer that brings back my appreciation of stacking rings. Maybe it’s because nude polishes and bright summer shades pop against gold jewelry.

QUAYxSHAY Vivienne Gold Aviators

It’s pretty obvious these are a monthly favorite. I wish Quay Australia would release a fresh batch of the QUAYxSHAY collaboration, because this brand is definitely one to add to your collection if you’re in the aviator market. They’re the best quality for the price, and the frames are larger than average. For more information, be sure to check out my detailed post all about Quay eyewear.

Life, Music and Other

Podcast-an-Music-Favorites

Podcasts

Last month I made a May Favorites playlist to showcase the songs I had on repeat. June was a little different because aside from that playlist, I primarily listened to one album and podcasts. I’m very new to the podcast world, but wanted to give it a shot for when I’m not necessarily in the music mood. I’ve downloaded a few just to give them a shot and see how I like them, but my two favorites are Serial and The Read.

Serial is an extremely popular podcast in the mysteries section that follows the creator’s attempt at solving a true story. I don’t want to say a lot in an attempt to avoid spoilers, but it’s a great listen if you want something a little more than just talk radio. It gets you involved and leaves you playing detective even after the podcast is over.

On the total opposite side of the spectrum is The Read. The Read is an entertaining podcast by Kid Fury and Crissle that covers pop culture news in a very blunt and honest fashion.

Music

Aside from the podcast adventures, I don’t have a playlist for this month because I have seriously only listened to At.Long.Last.A$AP., A$AP Rocky’s newest album.  I can’t pick a favorite song because I like it from start to finish and they constantly change, but right now I’m really into Holy Ghost, Canal St, Excuse Me, LPFJ2, and Better Things. The album has a chill vibe to it, which blends well with my general music preferences.

Snapchat

Is it weird to add social media as a favorite? I wanted to add it last month, but I forgot. I fall in and out of Snapchat love, but right now it’s one of my favorite apps. More specifically, I love watching Snapchat stories. I wasn’t interested in the feature when it first rolled out, but I’ve grown to love it now that the notifications aren’t as noticeable.

What were some of your favorites during June?

Also, the blog had a slight makeover if you haven’t noticed. Nothing too major, but I did switch the typography up a little bit for summer. I like the lighter, cleaner feel compared to the previous bold font used during the winter months.
