Welcome to the first official post of the summer! Much like the beginning of Spring, I wanted to kick off the season with a few outfit ideas to help you plan out your summer style. For this seasonal post, I’m excited to announce I’ve partnered with PrettyLittleThing!
PrettyLittleThing Summer Style Guide
All of the outfits featured showcase items from PLT to make your summer shopping easy! Even though it’s the hottest season of the year, that doesn’t mean you’re wardrobe has to be limited. It’s still possible to wear a variety of cute outfits while staying cool in the summer heat, and PrettyLittleThing has you covered in each area:
- Rompers and Dresses
- Printed Blouses
- Graphic Tees
During a recent staycation in Austin, Texas I didn’t have any trouble figuring out what to wear each day because all of my recent PLT selections were perfect options for the unpredictable weather.
Rompers and Dresses
Rompers and dresses are two of the easiest ways to look cute while rocking your summer style because the prints and patterns are endless! Rompers have a bit more freedom in terms of flexibility, so I recommend having at least one in your summer wardrobe. When your friends send a group text asking to hang out and you have no clue what you may end up doing, a romper will cover your bases. If you know where you’re going and what you’re doing, a festive summer dress is always a good idea.
Both dresses and rompers can be made casual with flat sandals and sneakers or dressed up with cute summer wedges, so either option can be worn with shoes you already own. PrettyLittleThing has a wide variety of options to choose from, but I selected the following PLT dresses and rompers to fit my summer style:
- Petite Striped Bardot Romper (pictured)
- Red Flare Sleeve Wrap Dress
- Yellow Ditsy Print Bardot Frill Hem Skater Dress
At the start of our Austin staycation, we spent the morning checking out a few local boutiques on South Congress, which meant a lot of walking in the sun. The PLT Striped Bardot Romper was the first outfit I decided to wear because the fabric was lightweight enough to withstand the heat and humidity. I styled it with a few straw accessories like summer wedges and a crossbody bag to bring out the chartreuse stripes for a cute daytime outfit. PrettyLittleThing has rompers to fit any occasion, so definitely check them out if you want to find a style for your next summer outing.
If you caught the latest post, you may notice that wearing printed blouses with denim shorts is a current favorite. I don’t mind showing some skin in the summertime, but I have definitely wanted to wear cute blouses in early summer before it’s no longer an option here in Texas. Recently, I styled the PLT Black Leopard Print Shirt with denim shorts and an ankle boot for a coffee date and loved the outcome! PrettyLittleThing has a lot of cute tops to choose from, but I gravitated towards blouses with a print because they add interest to an outfit.
While in Austin, I swapped the animal print for more stripes and packed a PLT Monochrome Stripe Blouse to wear for my birthday dinner. What I love about PLT tops and their printed blouses, in particular, is the versatility! This striped blouse took me from day to night effortlessly with a simple swap of the bottoms! For a quick coffee run at our hotel, I styled the blouse with denim shorts and a black straw hat. Typically I would further enhance the black with a pair of short boots, but I only packed flat sandals this time around and I actually don’t mind how they look! It’s very Austin to stick with sneakers or comfortable flats so you could say I was dressed like a local.
After grabbing a coffee and heading back up to our hotel room, I swapped the shorts for slim black pants to transition the PLT top from day to night. I typically leave liquid lips for the fall and winter time, so I let my bag be the red lip that night and instead kept my makeup the same as it was earlier in the day. If you really want to add a pop, the plunge on this PrettyLittleThing top is low enough that you could layer on a red lace bralette and leave a hint of it peeking through the blouse.
Another way to maximize your summer style is to curate a collection of graphic tees! Not only does PrettyLittleThing have a large selection of blouses, but they also have a plethora of graphic tees to fit your shopping needs. I have definitely expanded my wardrobe in the past few years but I still have a special place in my heart for a good graphic tee.
Graphic tees are a no-fuss option when you want to be comfortable and make a statement at the same time. I loved wearing a casual Wanderer Oversized Shirt from PLT with cutoffs for a simple lunch date in Austin. While you can always pair a graphic tee with denim shorts and sneakers as I did for part of my South Congress shopping trip, graphic tees aren’t limited to just being styled with denim!
Give your summer style a fun boost by pairing something casual like a graphic tee with a dressier maxi skirt. T-shirts and skirts balance each other out to create a perfect casual summer outfit that can be styled with sneakers or sandals. I wore the t-shirt and skirt option to the movies over the weekend and received several compliments on the look! You just have to find a graphic tee that highlights the tones in your skirt. Since my maxi skirt had a pop of yellow in the floral print design, I picked a yellow Overdressed Slogan Tee from PrettyLittleThing and even added a fun bag of the same hue. You can tuck your tee into your skirt, but I really love the knotted trend for this outfit.
