Hi, I'm Chelsey

Don’t you just love the early days of Spring? The weather is beautiful with a slight chill, so it’s the perfect time to mix and match your favorite pieces together without worrying about it feeling too hot. I love a good seasonal transition, so today we’re talking about style combinations. You don’t have to jump right into Spring with bandeau tops and cutoffs 24/7; instead, you can pair them with some of the more conservative pieces in your wardrobe for the ultimate Spring look. It’s all about balance! So far, I’ve picked up three spring essentials from Ragstock that I plan on wearing this season:

  • Bodysuits
  • Belt Bags
  • Casual Dresses

I’ll certainly lose the layers as we get deeper into Spring, but I’m going to live it up with my extra fabric for as long as the temperature will allow. There’s just something about fashion in the spring that makes me happy, and I’m pretty sure it’s the flexibility. Spring and Fall are two seasons where you can maximize the bulk of your wardrobe. Today, I’m sharing how you can create killer Spring outfits with 3 simple combinations. Before we jump right in, I want to share a little bit about where I got my spring essentials from–Ragstock.

What’s Ragstock? The Ultimate Vintage Shop.

Ragstock is a clothing store based in Minneapolis, MN that sells both new and vintage pieces. In addition to their online shop, they have over 40 physical stores across the midwest. For my fellow Texans, there’s actually a Ragstock store in Austin! I just so happened to spot it in the Dobie Center while I was at SXSW earlier this month. If you’re in the area, then definitely check out the store in person!

If you don’t live in Austin or the Midwest, their online shop is available! Ragstock offers both unique and trendy pieces to ensure you’re closet has a piece of flair to spice up your outfits. If you love vintage shopping, Ragstock has you covered! They are the largest seller of new and used vintage clothing online, and the vintage clothing is categorized in a clean, easy-to-shop layout. While I didn’t get a chance to venture into the vintage world, I did pick up a few spring essentials from their newer side.

As mentioned above, I was shopping around for spring essentials so I really wanted to find bodysuits and dresses to wear. I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonably priced everything was, and all of the pieces I received fit true to size.  In total, I ended up getting 5 pieces for a total of under $100! Two bodysuits, one jacket, one dress, and one belt bag later and I’m well on my way to building my Spring rack! Now, let’s talk a bit about how to style these pieces for Spring.

3 Spring Outfit Combinations to Try This Season

yellow leather jacket

1: Jackets + Shorts

Remember last month when I talked about wearing leather jackets year-round? If you live in a cooler climate, this is effortless! For me, living in Texas means taking advantage of any wind chill that comes my way. The early spring weather means you can pair outerwear with shorts to create a stylish and weather-appropriate outfit. I can’t get enough of this mustard biker jacket from Ragstock, so pairing it with denim shorts for Spring is the perfect way to stretch my wear time.

If you have a jacket that you adore, don’t be afraid to wear it in the Spring! Remember, it’s about balancing out the look. If you’re covered up on top, show a little skin on the bottom. Jackets surprisingly look great with shorts (or miniskirts) in the Spring. Just be mindful of the fact that it is warmer outside when picking a jacket. We’re mixing jackets and shorts, not coats! Coats are a bit too bulky and warm to fit the light, airy vibe of the season.

For my look, I even went with a long-sleeved leopard bodysuit from Ragstock instead of pairing it with a short-sleeve top. Since my legs were on display, I wanted to maintain the balance even if I took off the jacket. The velvety smooth fabric paired with the deeper plunge in the back makes it the perfect bodysuit to wear during the transitional season. Speaking of bodysuits, let’s get into Spring outfit combination number two!

2: Bodysuits + Wide-Leg Pants

Remember that tip about balance? Sleeveless bodysuits are a favorite of mine because they make for a great layering piece in the fall and winter months. Wear it underneath a blazer, cardigan, or sweater and you’re good to go! But what about Spring? In the wonderful season of Spring, flowy fabrics flourish.

With your arms bare and on display, add the balance to your outfit by pairing the bodysuit with wide-leg pants. This will flatter your figure without showing too much skin. I paired striped pants with a ribbed tank from Ragstock in a bold shade for an extra pop, but find a color that you love! The best part about pairing bodysuits with wide-leg pants is not having to worry about your shirt getting untucked. Plus, you can add a blazer on top and take it from weekend to work mode!

3: Dresses + Belt Bags

You can’t possibly mention spring fashion without adding in dresses! If you want to give your maxi dresses a break, try pairing t-shirt dresses with belt bags! The combination results in an effortlessly cool athleisure look which makes it the perfect casually cute outfit.

I’ve previously mentioned that I would continue to wear belt bags/fanny packs this year, so I couldn’t resist when I saw this checkered fanny pack on Ragstock’s website. I styled the bag with their sporty t-shirt dress because the checkered print paired nicely with the stripe accents. It would also look amazing with a neon dress, but that spring trend is still on my wishlist!

If you feel like you’re stuck in a style rut and want to switch up your look, start with one of the combinations above to create a new and fresh outfit! Now that it’s finally warm enough to bring out the denim shorts, I definitely want to take advantage of the comfortable weather and pair them with the mustard jacket for as long as possible!

Which look is your favorite?
