Happy Thursday! Last week, I introduced a brand new series to the site featuring style staples you should own in your wardrobe. Today, we’re kicking off the series by highlighting one of the most accessible staples on the list: watches!
Before we delve into clothing, I thought it might be helpful to ease into building your closet staples with an accessory. In addition to sharing all the details about the watch I selected for my staple accessory, I also have a giveaway for you! Keep reading the post to find out how you can enter!
Selecting the Perfect Watch
The first step in styling your watch is finding one that fits your personal taste. I’m delighted to have partnered with JORD watches again because they have extended their styles and now include minimalist styles and apple watch bands, in addition to their signature wood watches. I love the brand because they are constantly developing new designs that appeal to timeless styles as well as current trends.
From a quality standpoint, JORD watches are a sophisticated mix of natural and largely re-claimed materials. The wood watches provide the chainlink aesthetic without the added weight or excess materials, and all of the watches have high-quality craftsmanship. With so many stylish options available, how do you find the watch that’s right for you?
To help narrow down your watch selection, there are a few things you should determine prior to shopping around:
- Do you prefer large or small watch faces?
- What’s your band preference? (mesh, band, link, etc.)
- Are you looking for a minimal face or something with more detail?
Once you’ve defined your taste preferences, it’s time to shop around! JORD watches are high-quality and versatile enough to dress up or down regardless of the style you select.
For myself, I prefer large watch faces. I’ve had link bands in the past, so I wanted to switch it up this time around and go for something on the minimal side to match my delicate jewelry. I’m open to a minimal or detailed face when it comes to watches, so I left that question unanswered.
After answering each question, I was then able to narrow down my watch preference to a few keywords: minimal, banded, and large. Having keywords allowed me to focus on the style of watch I envisioned in my head while browsing the JORD watch selections. It’s something I encourage you to do as well!
As you can see from the photos, I found the perfect watch to match my style preferences. I went with the Sier Arcadia series, a gorgeous collection of minimal watches with a modern, marbelized face. Even though I love delicate jewelry, I still want each piece to stand out. The rose gold and white Arcadia watch balance the minimal yet stylish line beautifully and makes a statement with its simplicity. The hardest part was deciding which color I wanted because the Arcadia watch comes in four different options, all incredibly beautiful:
- Rose Gold & White Marble (the watch I selected)
- Silver & White Turquoise
- Gold & Sodalite
- Rose Gold & Black Marquina Marble
I was pleasantly surprised to see that it also comes with an interchangeable watch band! In addition to the white band, JORD also includes a free rose gold mesh band (valued at $60) to change up the look so the watch can suit every outfit. If you’re like me and want a minimal watch with maximum versatility, check out the Sier Arcadia series offered from JORD Watches.
How to Style Your Watch with Every Outfit
Once you select your staple watch, it’s time to style! The best part about staple accessories is the versatility. Watches, in particular, add a smart touch to your outfit and can easily take you from casual errand run to a day at the office. If you want to look put together and chic, add a watch to even your most simple outfit.
To give you a starting point with styling your watch, below are three ways you can add your watch to a few different outfits.
For the Weekend
If you want to keep it casual, pair a plain white tee (another staple) tucked into high waisted jeans and toss on a thin, printed belt. Swap the high messy bun for a low chignon and pop on a red lip. Balance out the look with low-top white sneakers and then throw on your watch for a pulled together, blogger-approved outfit. Just like that, you have a simple yet stylish outfit to rock all weekend.
For the Office
A blazer and a watch are a match made in high street heaven. Wearing a watch to the office makes you appear punctual, so don’t hesitate to throw it into your daily rotation! I styled my JORD watch with a belted blazer look, one that you can easily replicate for the office!
Pair a blazer with a blouse of the same shade, add black cigarette pants, and reach for your favorite office heels. To highlight the watch, scrunch up the sleeves to your elbows as I did. Not only will it draw attention to the jewelry, but it also adds a touch of fashion to an otherwise classic office outfit.
For Date Night
Who says you can’t wear a watch with a night look? If you opted for a minimal, sleek watch as I did with JORD’s Arcadia watch, this will be even easier to pull off. You can pair a leather miniskirt with a blousy, printed top, tucked in to create shape. Add a pair of tights underneath for a sophisticated date night look, and slip on your watch as the go-to accessory.
JORD watches are extremely versatile, so don’t be afraid to experiment with styling your watch!
