Happy Monday! Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that Spring weather is finally making its way to Texas? If you follow along on Instagram, then you may have noticed through my Insta Stories that I spent the weekend at SXSW! Create + Cultivate hosted another pop-up this year, so my friends and I headed to The Refinery in downtown Austin for the event. Having the event indoors was a nice change of pace since last year’s event was outside in the cold, but the weather was perfect this year!
I still haven’t made it to a full-blown Create & Cultivate conference yet, so attending the pop-up shows during SXSW is a great way to preview the conference. This year, my favorite moment involved one of my must-have blogging tools. We had an opportunity for a mentor power hour where we could sit with one of the selected speakers and ask questions or advice related to business. Naturally, I spent the hour with Brandy Pham, founder of Planoly.
I’ve been using Planoly for a little over two years to help curate Instagram content. Back then, it was known as Planogram but the quality of service has remained consistent even though the name changed. If you are a lover of Instagram and like to see photos before actually publishing them, I definitely recommend trying Planoly.

So I’ve shared a bit about the event itself, but let’s get into this outfit. I mentioned earlier the weather was perfect, but the forecast said otherwise. Whenever I try and plan an outfit ahead of time, the forecast will always throw a curveball. We were supposed to get a cold front the night before the event which totally changed my plan to wear a day dress. As a last minute casual look, I decided to style a pair of Levis jeans with two of my favorite spring trends: yellow and stripes.
The top is from Nordstrom and is actually the same blouse I mentioned in the spring trends blog post. I love button-up tops that are made of a lightweight material because they aren’t limited to just the workplace. For more of a weekend look, I styled the yellow striped shirt with lighter denim and neutral accessories. The boots are Sam Edelman and were featured in my February favorites video. While I’m not super into the kitten heel trend, I totally get why the fashion world is trying to bring them back. Sometimes you just want to wear a cute shoe with a small heel that’s comfortable enough to walk around in for hours, am I right?
