Whether you refer to the fall and winter seasons as sweater weather, cuddle weather, or hibernation season, we can all agree to one thing: the underlying premise of it all is to be cozy. Color me typical, but there’s something so enjoyable about staying in when it’s cold outside, bundled up with a hot cup of holiday coffee and a cozy blanket. Even though we can’t be Netflix-watching couch potatoes for the whole season, there are a few cozy essentials to add into your home and closet to keep the cozy vibe all winter long.
Minimal Candles
I like to burn candles year-round, but the time to stock up on candles is during the colder months. Picking a scent that matches your home and personal preferences is key to creating a warm and cozy environment. With so many affordable and luxury candles on the market with aesthetically pleasing packaging, I challenge you to branch out beyond Bath & Body Works this season. Simple, minimal packaging creates an intimate vibe and can double as decorative pieces in your home.
I just splurged on the Diptyque trio set for myself and without lighting them, the scents are already filling my home. They are high in price, so if you’re interested in minimal packaging and a soothing scent for less, Urban Outfitters sells a line of candles by Gourmand EDP that smell incredibly relaxing. I talked about the Pistachio Brulee perfume before by the brand, but they now offer the scent as a candle. It’s a smooth fragrance that is slightly nutty, perfect for those of us who enjoy scents on the warm and romantic scale.
Knit Scarves
There’s a place for all scarves in the winter, but knit scarves create the ultimate cozy vibe. Knit scarves are the easiest to throw over any outfit because they fall perfectly over any top. I like to double up on the knitwear by throwing an infinity scarf over a chunky sweater for the ultimate winter look. A jewel-toned knit scarf also pairs well with wardrobe classics like a striped tee or tank. Target and Nordstrom both have a wide color selection, so I recommend checking out your local store(s) if you’re in need of a knit scarf.
Chunky Sweaters
Last but certainly not least is the tried and true sweater. In the past, I’ve had the most luck at Urban Outfitters when it comes to finding the perfect cozy sweater. Not only are they comfortable and relaxed, but they last throughout multiple years. Aside from a sweater dress I haven’t purchased any new sweaters this season just yet, but I have spotted a few to add to my wishlist from Topshop. As for the fit, anything goes! There are crewnecks, cowl necks, turtlenecks, and more in stores right now so don’t limit yourself to one specific cut.
