I should start off by stating this is absolutely not a glamorous skincare routine, but that’s exactly why I’m looking to change it.I wanted to show my current skincare routine before I start experimenting with new products so you can get a glimpse of what’s worked for me thus far. As always, I’ll first start by stating that my skin type is combination/oily, and I have a tendency to purchase acne prevention face products although my skin type isn’t acne prone. My routines, both morning and night, are very simple because I truthfully don’t find joy in a long face cleansing process. It’s hard enough to find the energy to take makeup off at the end of the day, am I right?
My Morning Routine
In the morning, I use two products:
- Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control
- Ponds Clarant B3 Dark Spot Correcting Cream
Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control
I’m not sure if it’s that visible in the picture, but the Clean & Clear face wash is almost empty. If I weren’t on the search for a more natural or high-end routine, I would repurchase this product. I’ve used various Clean & Clear face products–foam, liquid, cream–and liquid is definitely my favorite. A cream face wash feels too thick on my skin, and foam feels so lightweight that it leaves me wondering if it cleaned my face. I use this product every morning when I shower to start the day with a clean face. I use it the same way as shampoo, meaning I apply the product twice: once to wipe away any dirt, and a second time to clean my skin. My face feels clean, but not overly dry.
Ponds Clarant B3 Dark Spot Correcting Cream
After I wash my face, I skip straight to the moisturizer. I don’t use a toner because the ones I’ve tried in the past dry out my skin and have an alcohol smell. For moisturizer, the Ponds brand is my favorite. There are a few different varieties, but I use the color correcting cream just in case I get a pimple that leaves a mark once it’s gone. I haven’t had any complaints with this moisturizer. It lasts an incredibly long time because of the amount of product in the jar and the thicker consistency. Once I run out of this jar, I’d like to try their anti-wrinkle cream. I’m at that age where I should probably be more concerned and proactive about wrinkle prevention than I am.
My Night Routine
My night routine is pretty quick and simple as well, just with an added step:
- Makeup Remover Wipes
- Clean & Clear Night Relaxing Face Wash
- Ponds Clarant B3 Dark Spot Correcting Cream
Hill Country Makeup Remover Wipes
I have a love/hate relationship with makeup removing wipes. I love their convenience, but hate their texture. I’m not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but every makeup removing wipe I’ve tried feels a little rougher to the touch than I’d prefer. I keep using them for now until I find a better method of taking off my makeup, but I do wish they had a smoother finish. Right now, I’m using wipes from HEB. They take my makeup off, just not all of it. It’s not a huge deal breaker for me since I follow this step with a face wash.
Clean & Clear Night Relaxing Deep Cleansing Wash
This Clean & Clear Night Relaxing face wash is supposed to help wind you down as you get ready for bed. It has sea mineral and sea kelp extract, which gives it a more fragrant smell compared to most of the brand’s facial products. I find the smell to be calming, but there isn’t anything in the face wash that really wowed me. This is a product that I still use because I have, but wouldn’t consider repurchasing. Much like the morning routine, I end the night with the same Pond’s moisturizer.
I would recommend the Clean & Clear brand to anyone looking for an affordable face routine. I’ve used the brand for nearly 8 years, and haven’t had a bad experience…I’m just looking to venture out into something new.
