Hi, I'm Chelsey

Olive-Plaid-and-Wedges-OOTD

Alright, I’ve figured out one of my style resolutions for the next year as I’m writing this post. Any guesses? You’ll have to wait until January to find out, of course, but that’s just around the corner! I went Black Friday shopping with my mom the night of Thanksgiving, so really we went Black Thursday shopping. The only place we went to was Macy’s, and she made out like a bandit, whereas all I found was this Stoosh shirt.

This season, I’ve taken a liking to both plaid and olive. This top is the best of both worlds, and it’s an actual blouse rather than a flannel, so it transitions well from work to play. I liked the casual flirty open collar as a way to switch up the styling for the weekend. Since I have a small chest, I thought the open front was a fun way to try out a deeper plunge without feeling like too much was exposed. When worn to work, I stay covered by closing the additional button or throwing a black cami underneath.

The wedges are an older purchase from Target that I completely forgot about until recently. I’ve started doing my quarterly closet purge as we creep into the new year, so I’ve been rediscovering a few things in my wardrobe. The wedges add an interesting twist to the look, and are a comfortable alternative to standard heels.

For accessories, I’m mixing metals a bit. From my Vegas haul, I have on the Orphelia London rose gold earrings. The necklace is yellow gold and has become a daily staple because of its delicate simplicity. Also from my Vegas haul, I’m wearing the Modern Love sunglasses by Quay! I’m so glad I purchased this style because they are wing-tipped just enough but not in an over the top way. I originally wanted the Vesper style back when I purchased my first pair of Quay eyewear, but I’m glad I found an understated version. On the lips I have MAC’s plum liner topped with their Verve satin lipstick, which was also featured in my Vegas haul.

I also wanted to quickly mention my hair, as I’m trying to make an effort in December. I used to style my hair all the time, but I’ve gotten so accustomed to the ease of throwing it up in a bun or pulling it back in a ponytail, especially since I need a haircut. I love wearing my natural curls and taking a break from applying heat, but it’s always a challenge to do so during the colder season since I like my hair to air dry. With freshly washed and straightened hair, I thought I’d try a middle part and keep the rest sleek and straight. I’m not totally in love with it as I think it rounds out my already round face, but it was something different. What do you think?
