This is the second outfit post I’ve shared that focuses on trying out a trend. This time around, the trend is about a print rather than a style of clothing. Even as my style has changed and evolved over the years, I have always loved 3 specific patterns: stripes, floral, and polka dots. The key difference between my usual striped clothing and this outfit is the heavy dose of color.

The Colorful Stripes Trend
I typically wear muted prints or a solid bright color, never both at the same time. This season, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone a little bit and loving the change! I love the boldness of all the colors together. It definitely takes a bit of confidence to wear something so bright and vibrant, but it was fun to play around with the colorful stripes trend.
The Jumpsuit’s Fit
I shared snapshots of each colorful outfit I wore over the weekend on Twitter, so it’s pretty clear that I’m kind of into vertical colorful stripes right now. The jumpsuit in today’s outfit post is from Forever 21, which we all know can be hit or miss. They actually have a lot of really cute dress and jumpsuit options out for the summertime if you’re on the hunt for lightweight clothing.
What I like about this jumpsuit is the fabric is so thin and lightweight without being sheer. Living in Texas, I’m looking for breathable clothes all summer long. I also really love the length of the jumpsuit. I’m wearing platform wedges from Steve Madden, and the jumpsuit still falls below my ankle. If you recall, the length of the pants was an issue I had with the last trend try-on outfit.
One thing I don’t like about the outfit is the elasticity of the waistband. I’m wearing a size small, but the waist still felt too big on me. Rather than falling in the right place, it seems to just literally rest on my sides in a disheveled fashion. I would have sized down if the jumpsuit came in an XS, but I just added my own belt at the waist to keep it tight. Overall, the jumpsuit was really comfortable to wear and I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing it as a travel outfit for an upcoming flight.
Would I try the trend again?
Absolutely! Listen, I would never have pictured myself in such a colorful outfit years ago. I was drawn to more minimal and dark colors, so a rainbow-filled one-piece would have been tossed to the side. But now, especially since it’s the summertime, I’m kind of loving any and everything with colorful stripes!
