Alright guys, this is the last resolution check-in until the final reflection at the end of the year. If you haven’t a clue what this post is referencing make sure you first read about my 2015 style resolutions. Then, catch up with my progressions from the first and second check-in posts. I’m sharing my progress with you all, but this is also your time to think about your own resolutions. Are they still holding up? Have you totally drawn a blank on what they were? We may be a day away from October, but it’s not too late to make a change!
So, how am I doing?
Resolution #1: Find a good skincare routine.
- Status: In Progress.
- Challenges: As always, the main challenge with finding a good skincare routine is wanting to try so many products but also making sure my skin has enough time in between to breathe.
- Reflection: With only 3 months away from the end of the year, I have a feeling this is going to be an ongoing journey. The most recent trial and error was with the Clinique items I mentioned over the summer. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the products so I’m back to my original routine for the time being.
Resolution #2: Invest in a quality foundation routine
- Status: Complete. I accomplished this resolution early in the year by finding Lancome’s Teint Idole foundation.
- Challenges: No challenges for this quarter.
- Reflection: I noticed that even after finding a high-end foundation routine, I still kept an open-mind with other products. More recently, I tested out L’oreal Pro-Matte foundation and love using it as an alternate to my high-end foundation.
Resolution #3: Put more Business in my Business Casual
- Status: In progress
- Challenges: Shopping my own closet made me realize my wardrobe is severely lacking in the business department. While I have a few key pieces I rotate consistently, I could definitely benefit from expanding my collection.
- Reflection: I’ve somewhat taken a step back with this resolution. This time around, I haven’t been in the mood for heels. My preference for flats this quarter put a damper in my workwear. That’s not to say you can’t look professional in flats, I just would like to step my work wardrobe up with heels.
Resolution #4: Shop my closet more often
- Status: Complete.
- Challenges: It’s finally Fall, which means fall fashion is everywhere. Fall fashion is prime shopping time, so this resolution is definitely a challenge right now.
- Reflection: This resolution made me realize that I used to shop for new things before seeing what I already own, and I’ve turned that around. I still love to shop and will do so on occasion, but I’ve started to plan it rather than spontaneously spend. I find that I love and wear my purchases more when they aren’t an impulse buy.
Resolution #5: For every new item, donate an old one.
- Status: Complete.
- Challenges: No challenges for this quarter.
- Reflection: Although this is considered complete, I still want to do one more mass closet purge before the year ends.
We’re in the final stretch, and most of my resolutions are complete. I’m hoping I can end with a bang, but I have a feeling at least one will be carried into the next year. How are yours going?
Great article! I really like the idea of having style resolutions and then try to stick with them. This makes shopping much more structured as you know exactly what you are searching for. In addition, you can save a lot of money. I really have to make some style resolutions as well!

Thank you, Lisa! I’ve made style resolutions for the past few years, but this is the first year I’ve had this accountability check-in. It’s really helpful and you’re right, I’ve noticed I’m not spending nearly as much as I used to…at least not on clothes haha. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
