We’re all familiar with the classic LBD, but what about its contrasting counterpart? While you can absolutely wear a little black dress year-round, the spring and summer months may have you reaching for lighter shades more often than not. It’s for that reason that you need a little white dress, also known as LWD, in your closet.

Much like the coveted LBD, the LWD is extremely versatile. You can think of it as your go-to daytime look. Not sure what to wear to brunch? First, there’s a dedicated post for that. Second, there’s also a little white dress that will fit the bill. With the exception of weddings, white dresses are simple enough to dress up or down so that you can get the biggest ROI on your purchase. Like the items previously shared in the series, increasing your ROI by maximizing an item’s versatility is what makes something a closet staple.

15 White Dresses to Spice Up Your Summer Style

The shirtdress is the white dress style I selected this year, which may look a bit familiar to regular readers of the site. Already, I’ve worn the dress several times since purchasing in February–two of which were photographed. I selected a shirtdress style because the material lends itself to dressed up events without being restricted only to those environments. As featured in the post, I belted the shirtdress and added a chunky boot with a floppy hat to create a daytime look with a little edge.

Finding a white dress that meets your needs doesn’t have to be difficult or overwhelming! When you’re shopping, think about a few of the top requirements to help narrow down your selection:

• What’s your favorite body part?
• Which area do you prefer to keep covered?
• Where do you plan to wear a white dress?
• What’s your budget?

Once you know the answer to at least half of the above questions, you can shop online and filter the search criteria to meet your requirements.
